Unique clicks

A click is considered unique if the same IP address and browser (User-Agent) have not clicked this link in the past 24 hours.

All clicks are still recorded — you can filter the table to show All, Unique only, or Repeated only.

The 24-hour uniqueness window is the industry standard used by most affiliate trackers.

Geography

Country is determined automatically from the visitor's IP address. The breakdown by country is shown as a table sorted by click count on the Stats page.

Devices

Device type is detected from the User-Agent header:

  • Desktop — laptops and desktop computers
  • Mobile — smartphones
  • Tablet — tablets and iPads

Referrers

The referrer is the website that contained the link the visitor clicked before arriving at your short link.

If there is no referrer (direct traffic, messengers, email) the field is shown as «direct».

Bot filtering

tapurl.io automatically filters out bots, crawlers and messenger link-preview requests. They are not counted in your analytics.

Filtered bots include: Googlebot, Bingbot, Telegram link preview, WhatsApp, Discord, Slack, Facebook crawler, and 40+ other known patterns.

Messenger previews (Telegram, WhatsApp, Viber) trigger a GET request to your link when someone shares it in a chat. These are filtered out so they don't inflate your click count.
