1. Acceptance

By using tapurl.io you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. What you may not do

You may not use tapurl.io to shorten URLs that lead to:

  • Malware, phishing pages, or drive-by downloads
  • Content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or in the jurisdiction of your visitors
  • Spam or unsolicited bulk communication
  • Content that violates the intellectual property rights of third parties
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits minors
  • Content promoting violence, terrorism, or hate speech

We maintain a blacklist of prohibited domains and URL patterns. Links matching the blacklist are blocked at creation time. We cooperate fully with law enforcement requests.

3. User-generated content

tapurl.io is a link shortening platform. We do not create, edit, or control the content of the URLs submitted by users. All short links point to destinations chosen entirely by the user who created them.

We are not responsible for the content of any destination URLs. tapurl.io acts solely as a neutral intermediary that redirects visitors from a short URL to a destination URL provided by the user. We do not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any content, products, or services accessible through links created on our platform.

If you believe a tapurl.io link points to illegal, harmful, or infringing content, please report it via our abuse report page. We investigate all reports and remove links that violate these terms.

4. DMCA and intellectual property

tapurl.io respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). We qualify for the DMCA Safe Harbor provisions as a service provider that:

  • Does not have actual knowledge of infringing activity
  • Acts expeditiously to remove or disable access to infringing material upon receiving valid notice
  • Does not financially benefit directly from the infringing activity

To submit a DMCA takedown notice, use our abuse report page and select "Copyright infringement" as the category. Include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) the tapurl.io short URL at issue, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement of good faith belief, (e) a statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury, and (f) your signature.

Counter-notices may be submitted by the link owner if they believe removal was erroneous. We will restore removed links 10–14 business days after receiving a valid counter-notice unless the complaining party files a court action.

5. Fair use policy

All plans, including Pro and Agency, are subject to fair use. tapurl.io is designed for typical marketing, affiliate, and developer use cases. The following are considered fair use violations:

  • Artificial traffic — generating clicks through bots or automated tools to inflate statistics.
  • Sustained extreme volume — links receiving more than 50,000 clicks per day on a sustained basis may be flagged for review. Occasional spikes are expected and welcome.
  • Infrastructure abuse — using the service in a way that causes disproportionate load on shared infrastructure, affecting other users.

If we detect usage that exceeds fair use, we will contact you by email to discuss your needs. We may offer a custom plan or throttle traffic. We will always attempt to resolve the situation before taking action. Automated email notifications are sent when a link's traffic exceeds the threshold for your plan — these are informational, not enforcement actions.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, TAPURL.IO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.

8. Paid plan suspension

If a paid plan expires, a 7-day grace period begins during which all features remain active. After the grace period, advanced features (smart routing, A/B testing, postback) are suspended. Links continue to redirect. After 60 days without renewal, links exceeding the free-plan limits are soft-deleted.

9. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which tapurl.io is registered. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

12. Changes

We may update these terms. We will notify registered users by email of material changes. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
